Elias Papaioannou

Elias Papaioannou is an Associate Professor of Economics at the London Business School. Prior to LBS, he completed his Ph.D. in Economics at the London Business School, his Masters in Public Policy and Administration (MPA) at Columbia University, and his Bachelor’s in Law (LLB) at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens.

His research focuses on international finance, political economy, applied econometrics, macro aspects of regulation, law and finance, and growth and development. He also consults regularly with international organizations, major investment banks, hedge funds, and institutional investors on macroeconomic developments in EU and Greece. 

Researcher's Grant Projects

A combination of geographical data on post-conflict land mines and micro-level economic data allows for the quantification of the long-run effects of land mines on economic performance and development of conflict-affected states such as Mozambique.
