Stephen O'Connell is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Emory University. His research interests include infrastructural determinants of firm creation and productivity, the role of institutions in producing gender gaps in education and career progression and, most recently, the effect of information constraints on the targeting of large-scale social welfare programs. He was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow on the School Effectivess and Inequality Initiative in the Department of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in Economics and an MPhil in Economics from the City University of New York.
