Vittorio Bassi

Vittorio is Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles. His research interests include labour and development. Vittorio is currently working on projects examining human capital accumulation, firm behaviour and labour market frictions in Uganda.

This project aims to collect new data from Uganda, in the hope of helping to provide an answer to the question of why some firms produce so much more output per worker than others, in developing countries.

Building on an existing large-scale randomized controlled trial involving Ugandan SMEs, this project measures the spillover effects of several business expansion interventions on the business practices of firms that belong to the ‘treated’ firms’ social, business and market networks.
