Focusing on the Environmental Clearance law in India, this project aims to build a series of unique datasets in order to shed light on the effects of regulatory costs on the private sector.

This randomised controlled trial evaluates the impact of women-only bus services on the recruitment efforts of small firms and on women’s labor market participation in Lahore, Pakistan.

A field experiment to fit Kenyan minibuses with GPS fleet management technology will provide information about the effect of monitoring on market frictions and negative externalities due to driver behaviour. 

This research explores the factors that affect the pattern of firm entry into different geographic markets in developing countries by focusing on the Indian market for potassium fertilizer. 

This project aims to estimate the relationship between corporate transparency, firm performance, and business networks in a developing country with a focus on the construction sector supply chain in Uganda. 

This project investigates the usage and allocation efficiency of land and energy within India by focusing on the manufacturing sector and developing data to quantify the issues relating to land allocation and energy supply.

These researchers use their existing in-depth survey methodology to collect extensive management data on three African countries and Brazil and investigate differences in management practices and productivity across firms and countries.

Focusing on Bangladeshi Ready Made Garment factories, this project provides micro-evidence of on-the-job learning between co-workers and aims to identify the conditions under which the productivity effects of this on-the-job learning are particularly strong. 

Together with Indian environmental regulators, the research team investigates whether public disclosure of information on industrial emissions and the use of information technology can improve regulatory performance, industrial compliance, and industrial efficiency. 

Under a broader study of the Indian clay brick industry, this project quantifies the extent to which product quality explains differences in productivity and investigates the determinants of firms' choices of quality.
