Aleksandra Khimich

Compass Lexecon

Aleksandra Khimich is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon based in Paris. Her work focuses on applying economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy cases. She holds an MSc in Economics from the National Research University, Higher School of Economics, an MSc and a PhD in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics. During her studies at the TSE, she specialized in industrial organization and competition policy issues.

Competition policy implementation and enforcement, including cartel deterrence and detection, require substantial investments. Therefore, it is important to understand to what extent these investments are compensated in terms of prevented damages to consumers.

An estimation of the aggregate economic harm caused by cartels in developing countries provides evidence that it can be substantial irrespective of the scale of the economy in question.
