Martin Wittenberg is a Professor in the School of Economics and Director of DataFirst at the University of Cape Town. He specialises in the analysis of household surveys and teaches postgraduate courses in econometrics and labour economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography from University of KwaZulu-Natal, M.Com. in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand, M.A. in Political Science, B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy and B.A. in Philosophy, Mathematics, Statistics all from University of Kwa Zulu Natal (Pietermaritzburg).

Researcher's Grant Projects

This project aims to analyze job creation and destruction in private enterprises in South Africa since 2005, and also explores electronic archives to find historic data on firm dynamics from the 1960s onwards, providing fascinating insights into job creation in the face of massive unemployment.
