photo of Shova Thapa KarkiShova Thapa Karki joined the Business and Management department in 2010. Prior to this, she had a post-doc from the STEPS Center, where she worked in peri-urban sustainability and resilience. She holds a PhD in Ecological Economics from SPRU-Science and Technology Policy Research at the University of Sussex and a MSc from the University of Leeds. Her PhD focussed on social-ecological resilience and biodiversity conservation in protected areas. Looking at the economic incentives, household livelihoods, conflict, attitudes and behaviour and institutional arrangements the research explored social-ecoloigcal resilience and institutions in Bardia National Park in Nepal. 

Researcher's Grant Projects

This project explores the extent to which women entrepreneurs in the informal economy in Nepal make the transition into the formal economy, focusing on the interaction of contextual factors (institutional, socio-spatial, and enterprise sector dynamics) and their personal characteristics.
