PEDL Coronavirus Announcement

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, unforeseen travel and social restrictions have been enforced around the world. This has already led to disruption for a number of PEDL researchers and it is likely that this disruption will also have implications for other projects. PEDL is aware that, in many cases, researchers will be forced to rethink their strategies and timelines in order to complete their work and that in some very serious cases, it may be necessary to cancel projects.

We want to assure our grantees that we will try to offer as much flexibility as possible so that projects can be completed. If you know that your project will be disrupted, please take one of the following actions:

  1. If the project can continue in its current structure but needs to be postponed or paused, then researchers should contact the PEDL administrators explaining the reason for the delay.
  2. If the project’s current focus is now infeasible and needs to be pivoted or amended so that it may continue, then researchers should contact the PEDL administrators explaining why this is necessary and how this would be done.
  3. If the project cannot continue in any shape or form and must be cancelled, then researchers should contact the PEDL administrators explaining why this is necessary including details on what has been spent so far and how much of the budget remains unused.

If you foresee no disruption, there is no need to contact PEDL. The project will continue as normal.

We know this is a busy and stressful time for everyone, therefore explanations should be a maximum of one page. If there are any further details we require, we will contact you. If you have any questions, please contact Kirsty or Monika at [email protected] (for ERG and MRG queries respectively).

We hope you are keeping well.

Best wishes,

The PEDL Team
